This is the second book in Morgan’s Montgomery Manor series and focuses on flirt Jake Montgomery and the apparent flighty Rebecca Clare. Rebecca is a wild kind of character which is not the sort of woman I thought would be the one to be with Jake. Jake appeared to be irresponsible in the first book but seems to have grown in this second one.
Becca lives a life in high society and that life can be overly frustrating. Paparazzi follow her daily and scandal is not unfamiliar to her. She’s used to being the black sheep in her family and calling a lot of attention to herself. The trope of pretending to be engaged is used here as Jake and Becca end up in this situation. It works very well here and I love Jake’s comedic presence in this book.
Jake and Becca’s personalities bounce off each other well and it’s not expected but Becca’s openness and their sweet friendship works throughout the book. This is a light and easy romance and I enjoyed it even more than the first book. I look forward to more from this series.
