Man Law by Adrienne Giordano

Man Law: Never mess with your best friend’s sister. The sister rule was Man Law, and Man Laws were about the only rules Vic followed.

Vic Andrews is a security consultants for Taylor Security. His best friend Mike owns the firm and they do contract work overseas in high risk areas. Vic lives by Man Laws and doesn’t get emotionally involved with anyone but his team and Mike, he doesn’t want to have anything that will make him loose his focus when out on the job.

Gina Delgado is Mike’s sister. A young widow with three kids she is afraid of getting involved with someone like Vic. Her husband was a firefighter and she can’t risk another relationship with someone who has a dangerous job and she doesn’t want to involve her children in what could be more hurt.

They can’t deny the attraction they have to each other and a handful of wild nights of sex makes them realize that neither one wants to risk the hurt or entanglement of a full blown relationship.

When a job overseas goes wrong for Vic, those he loves become targets in a vendetta against him and what he has fought to avoid comes crashing to his door.

This book strikes the right balance of action and romance. I love watching the change in Vic and really felt for him. He had a hard life and thought of emotions and of love as messy and to be avoided at all cost. To see him break down walls was a big part of the story line. I read this book in a day, it kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. The characters drew you in and you connected with them.

This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone book. I enjoyed it so much I purchased the first in the series.

 Book Summary:

Security Consultant Vic Andrews lives by his Man Laws:

Never mess with your best friend’s sister
Never get caught
Never get attached

But he can’t deny his irresistible attraction to Gina Delgado, a young widow with three kids and plenty of strings attached. Even so, having a physical relationship doesn’t mean they’re “in a relationship.”

Gina lost her husband to tragedy; she is not getting emotionally involved with another man in a dangerous profession. Sleeping with Vic is just stress relief.

Until one of Vic’s assignments goes wrong and the target selects Gina and her kids for revenge. There’s nothing Vic won’t do to protect Gina and the children–the family he realizes, too late, he wants. He’ll accomplish his mission but will he have lost his only chance at true love?
